If you could ask your favorite author (alive or dead) one question … who would you ask, and what would the question be?
This is a tough one. I am very interested in relationships writers have with their editors, so I settled on this:
I would ask Raymond Carver about his relationship with Gordon Lish, and specifically if he felt that Gordon Lish made him a better writer, or if he regretted his decision to go forward with Lish’s version of What We Talk about When We Talk About Love and felt that his own version would have been as much of a success as Lish’s version.
